ALLEN, William W.
(Abt 1837-) |
ALLEN, William W. 1 2
General Notes: William appears on the 1850 US Census, living in Cherry Creek, Illinois with Michael Shoemaker and his wife. He is presumed to be the son of Michael's daughter, Mary, by her second husband, but this is unconfirmed. |
1 1850 US Census (Cherry Grove, Carroll County, Illinois). Repository: Ancestry. Surety: 3. Lists Michael Shoemaker (age 74, b. PA) and wife Elizabeth (age 69, b. NY) living four houses away from their son, William, in Cherry Grove, Carroll County, Illinois. Also in the household are Michael's grandsons [I believe], Pearson Goudy [probably a son of Michael's daughter, Mary Goudy, by her first husband, Samuel Goudy] (age 22, b. IA); and a William W. Allen (age 13, b. WI) [probably a son of Mary by her second husband, William Wallace Allen]. Michael and Elizabeth's places of birth do not match with our records.
2 1860 US Census (Cherry Grove, Carroll County, Illinois). Repository: Ancestry. Surety: 2. Lists Wm. Shoemaker (age 42, b. OH), wife Joanna (age 40, b. NY) and children Adeline (age 18, b. IL), Ansel (age 14, b. IL), Joanna (age 8, b. IL), Caroline (age 6, b. IL) and Salfred (age 2, b. IL), living in Cherry Grove, Illinois. Also in the household is Wm. Wallace Allen (age 21, b. IA), who may be William's nephew by his sister, Mary Shoemaker Allen. Both William Shoemaker and William Allen are listed as a "farmer." Ansel is listed as a "farm laborer."
