NAURISMÄKI, Susanna Maria

VIINIKAINEN, Viktor 1 2 3 4 5 6

  • Born: 12 May 1878, Kangasniemi, Finland
  • Marriage: NAURISMÄKI, Susanna Maria on 16 May 1903 in Sault Ste Marie, Algoma County, Ontario, Canada 1
  • Died: Oct 1962, Birmingham, Oakland, Michigan at age 84
  • Buried: Oct 1962, Evergreen Cemetery, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan 7

bullet  General Notes:

Victor was one of many who left Finland for North America in order to escape the advance of the Russians into Finland in the early 1900's. A carpenter by trade, Viktor lost the vision in one eye in an accident shortly after arriving in Canada in 1901. The family eventually moved to Detroit, MI where he and his wife lived out the remainder of their lives. Viktor's death record misspelled his last name as Veinikainen.

bullet  Research Notes:

Viktor's year of death is reported incorrectly in the Social Security Death Index as 1962. His grandson, Victor, knows that Viktor's wife, Susanna, outlived her husband by a number of years. I think it likely that this is a typigraphical error and the record should read 1942.

Found the following records, but uncertain how these may be connected to the family:
