1920 US Census (District 56, Lincoln Ward 2, Lancaster County, Nebraska). Surety: 4. Lists Ray E. Smith (age 37, b. NE), wife Bina A. (age 36, b. NE) and son Thomas (age 2 yrs 2 mos, b. NE), living in the household of Bina's father, Thomas Boston (age 64, b. IA) in Lincoln, Nebraska. Thomas' birthplace, and the birthplaces of his parents are listed incorrectly (he was born in Canada). No profession is listed for Thomas, and he may have been infirm at this time (accounting for the erroneous information). His daughter lists his birthplace as Canada on this census, and again on the 1930 census. Ray E. is listed as a "postal clerk" for the "railroad." Ray's parents' birthplaces are both listed as "USA," indicating that Ray was not in the household when the census was taken and whoever provided the information did not know his parents' birthplaces.
