DEATH NOTICE: PASSING OF Oxford COUNTY PIONEER One of Oxford County's pioneers in the person of Ebenezer Withers Uren, of Ingersoll, Ontario, passed to his reward on February 26th, after one week's illness. He was in his 93rd year and had been blessed with good health all through life and continued alert and active until quite recently. A great lover of flowers and gardening, he was never happier than so engaged, and spent much of his time in latter years in this way. He was born in West Oxford [township], in 1841, the son of the late John Uren, who was a native of Cornwall, England, and who took up a homestead in West Oxford [township], in 1828 when all was a wilderness. E. W. Uren was married twice. To Mary Henderson, whose death occurred in 1888 and to Grace Hamlyn, who predeceased him 11 years ago. For years he was associated with the Ingersoll Agricultural Society and was always an enthusiastic student of horticulture and fruit growing. He was keenly interested in all activities that concerned the public welfare. He was a staunch supporter of temperance and an active church member for over 60 years, his church life dating from the time of the Wesleyan Methodist Church down to the United Church of today. He is survived by two daughters, Sadie at home, Mrs. Walter Badley, Port Hope; and two sons, A. E. Uren, Toronto; and R. N. Uren of Calgary, also four grandsons. Also left to mourn are 2 step sons, T. J. Hamlyn, London; and F. J. Toronto; and step-daughter, Mrs. J. A. Tracey, Georgetown and niece, Mrs. C. E. Rogers, Dorchester. Interment took place to the Ingersoll Rural Cemetery on Wednesday February 28th, 3:30pm.

The service, although of a private nature, was well attended by relatives and intimate friends of the family and the number of beautiful floral pieces indicated the esteem in which the deceased was held, by a wide circle of friends. Interment was made in the Ingersoll Rural Cemetery, the pallbearers being Messrs. Fred Hamlyn and Thomas Hamlyn, step-sons, Walter Badley, son-in-law; Charles Rogers nephew; Jack Uren, grandson, and Alfred E. Uren a son.
