I believe that William Richard Cutter is mistaken in his claim that Daniel Brewster married Dorothy Morgan Witter, widow of Deacon Ebenezer Witter. Evidence indicates that Daniel actually married Dorothy Witter, the daughter of Ebenezer and Dorothy [Morgan] Witter. To date, I have found no evidence of children from the Brewster/Witter marriage, although Daniel had a number of children from his first marriage to Hannah Gager.
Daniel married Dorothy WITTER, daughter of Deacon Ebenezer WITTER and Dorothy MORGAN, on 19 Dec 1727 in Preston, New London County, Connecticut.1 (Dorothy WITTER was born on 11 Dec 1702 in Preston, New London County, Connecticut,4 5 died on 30 Apr 1779 in Preston, New London County, Connecticut and was buried in Apr 1779 in Brewster's Neck Cemetery, Preston, New London County, Connecticut 6.) |

. I suspect that Cutter is mistaken in his belief that Daniel married Dorothy Morgan Witter, the widow of Deacon Ebenezer Witter. Although Cutter's assumption may be correct, evidence appears to suggest that the marriage was actually between Daniel and Ebenezer Witter and Dorothy Morgan Witter's daughter, Dorothy:
1. Dorothy Morgan Witter is buried beside Ebenezer Witter at Avery Cemetery (in Ledyard) as "Mrs. Dorothy Witter," not as Dorothy Witter Brewster. No mention of a second husband is made in her epitaph.
2. A burial record exists at Brewster's Neck Cemetery (in Preston) for Dorothy Witter Brewster, whose birthdate exactly matches that of Ebenezer and Dorothy's daughter.
More research is needed to confirm or disprove my hypothesis.
