DEAN, Julia Ann
Julia married William WHEELER, son of Leonard Proctor WHEELER and Martha CURRY, on 27 Mar 1866 in Grant County, Wisconsin. Grant County Herald (Grant County, Wisconsin). Surety: 4. DEATH NOTICE: WM. WHEELER: Wm. Wheeler, eldest son of Leonard and Martha Wheeler, was born at White Oak, Springs, Wis. June 23, 1840 and died Oct. 10, 1916.
Early in life he moved with his parents to Lancaster, Wis. He married Miss Julia Dean March 27, 1866 and settled on a farm at Ellenboro, came to Fennimore about 34 years ago. There were given five children to this home, two are deceased, Elmer and Rosa, Mrs. Erma Perkins of Prairie du Chien, Jesse, of Annaton and Chas. of Crawford County.
He enlisted in Company K, 12th Regiment of Wis., at Boscobel in Oct. 1861 for three years. After serving his time out he re-enlisted in 1864. Comrades say that he was a brave loyal soldier. He was a member of the G.A.R. Post of Fennimore.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A.W. Phillips, pastor of the U.B. Church in the home Thursday, Oct. 12. Sermon was preached from Ps. 90-12 to a large attendance of neighbors and friends. Interment in White Cemetery.
