3 Ingersoll Daily Chronicle (Ingersoll, Oxford County, Ontario, Canada). Surety: 4. FUNERAL NOTICE: DEATH OF CENTENARIAN--Mrs. Elizabeth Sandick was aged 102 Years-Oxford County's Oldest Resident--The death of undoubtedly Oxford County's oldest resident, occurred on Monday, in the person of Mrs. Elizabeth Sandick, a centenarian, who entered the long sleep at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. Thomas Downing, near Beachville. Mrs. Sandick was a remarkable woman, having reached the great age of 102 years, 1 month. She was the relict of the late Joseph Sandick, whose death occurred thirty-five years ago. In spite of her remarkable age, Mrs. Sandick, at the time of her 102nd birthday, was comparatively sprightly and enjoyed the full possession of all her faculties. She could read and write, and the fountain of ambition was still flowing for she persisted in assisting in the performance of much of the household work. She had been ill only about three weeks, death being due to the wearing out of the constitution. For 70 years deceased was a resident of the township of North Oxford, additional distinction to that of her great age, and which stamps her as having been one of the earliest pioneers of this section. Deceased weathered the vicissitudes of life cheerfully and up to the time of her death her disposition was radiant. She was the mother of a large family. Deceased was born in the county of Essex, England, on March 8th, 1801, and she came to Canada in 1833, settling in North Oxford [township]. Many were the interesting stories deceased could narrate of the developments she had witnessed in Canada and of other observations. during the long lease of life. The funeral will take place from the residence of Thomas Downing of Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock and proceed to the Ingersoll Rural Cemetery.
