(1830-1908) |
GRIGSBY, George Washington 2 3
General Notes: After losing their first five children in infancy, sympathetic neighbors advised the couple to give their next boy and girl Biblical names so that children born after them would survive to adulthood. Hence, the next girl was named Eve and the next boy named Adam. After Margaret perished when a cyclone struck their home, George never remarried, and lived his remaining years near his daughters, Myra and Anna, in Montana. George married Margaret SHOEMAKER, daughter of John SHOEMAKER and Elizabeth DANIELS, on 15 Sep 1853 in Mt. Carroll, Carroll County, Illinois.1 (Margaret SHOEMAKER was born on 14 Aug 1838 in Illinois and died on 14 Jun 1885 near Aurelia, Indiana.) |
