1 1850 US Census (Loran, Stephenson County, Illinois). Repository: Ancestry. Surety: 4. Lists Calvin Curry (age 52, b. OH), wife Jane (age 45, b. IN), and children Daniel (age 20, b. IL), Mary A. (age 18, b. MO), Jane (age 16, b. WI), Oslena (age 14, b. IL), Frances (age 12, b. IL), Emily (age 10, b. IL), John A. (age 8, b. IL), William (age 1, b. IL) and James (age 1, b. Living several houses away is Calvin's uncle [we believe], John Shoemaker [brother of Calvin's mother, Elizabeth Shoemaker Curry].

Calvin and his sons are all listed as "farmers." This census has a column for persons "whether deaf and dumb, blind, insane or idiotic," and this box is checked for Calvin and all three of his sons.

4 1880 US Census (District 111, Lancaster, Grant County, Wisconsin). Repository: Ancestry. Surety: 4. Lists Calvin Curry (age 83, b. OH), wife Jane (age 75, b. IN) and son Daniel J. (age 50, b. IL), living in Lancaster, Wisconsin. Calvin is listed as a "farmer." This census indicates that Jane is suffering from a fractured femur, and that Daniel cannot write.
