Aylesbere, Devon); also their son, Francis (age 25, b. Wiveliscombe), and his wife, Anne (age 28, b. Alcombe, Somerset), and their daughter, Alice Laura (age 1, b. Wiveliscombe), living on Perry's Farm, Wiveliscombe. James Sloman is listed as a "farmer of 160 acres, employing 2 men and 2 boys." Three servants are also listed in the household. My family lore indicates that daughter, Martha, married a stable boy (Edward William Rockett) and was disowned from the family. There is no record of Edward W. Rockett working as a stable boy, but as this record indicates, the Sloman's were a rather wealthy family, so it is possible that they did not approve of their daughter's marriage to the son of a poor farmer.
