1 1900 US Census (Burt Township, Alger County, Michigan). Repository: Ancestry. Surety: 4. Lists Frank Goupille (age 52, b. Nov 1848, Fr. Canada), wife Marguerite (age 47, b. Dec 1852, Fr. Canada), daughter Louise (age 18, b. Aug 1881, Fr. Canada) and son Arthur (age 8, b. Jun 1892, MI), living in Burt Township, Michigan. Frank is listed as a "hotel keeper," referring the European Hotel that he owned. Frank also indicates that the family came to Michigan in 1884. Both Frank and Marguerite indicate that both their parents were born in French Canada, that they have been married 30 years and have had 7 children, 6 of whom are living.

2 1930 US Census, Burt Township, Alger County, Michigan. Surety: 4. Lists David Thomas (age 57, b. MI), wife Matilda (age 54, b. Fr. Canada), and children James A. (age 23, b. MI), Francis D. (age 18, b. MI) and William J. (age 13, b. MI), living in Burt Township, Michigan. Also in the household is Matilda's mother, Marguerite [Godin] Goupille (age 78, b. Fr. Canada). David is listed as a "salesman for a candy store," and indicates that both his parents were born in Michigan. Matilda indicates that both her parents were born in French Canada. She also indicates that she immigrated to the U.S. in 1885 and is naturalized. Living next door is Matilda's brother, Arthur J. Goupille, and his family.

3 1910 US Census (Burt Township, Alger County, Michigan). Surety: 4. Lists Frank (age 60, b. Canada) and Marguerite (age 58, b. Canada), living in Grand Marais, Michigan. Frank is listed as a "farmer." They indicate that they have been married for 37 years.

4 1920 US Census (District 305, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan). Surety: 4. Lists Oliva (as Levi, age 43, b. MI [incorrect]), wife Ada (age 42, b. Canada), and children Raymond (age 15, b. MI), Paul (age 13, b. MI), Charles (age 9, b. MI), Agnes (age 9, b. MI), and William (age 2, b. MI). Also in the household are nephew Roy Thomas [son of Ada's sister, Matilda] (age16, b. MI), and Ada's mother, Marguerite [Godin] Goupille (age 68, b. Canada). Oliva is listed as a "steam fitter" for an auto company. Roy is also working as a "stock cuter(?)" at an auto plant. Oliva incorrectly indicates that both of his parents were born in Michigan [they were born in Canada]. Ada indicates that she came to the U.S. in 1882 and was naturalized in 1905. Marguerite indicates that she came to the U.S. in 1882 and was not naturalized.
